Guess they don’t know I’m not in oil anymore. Interestingly, I had a phone interview with an oil field service company 2 weeks ago and they specifically asked me if I was an SPE member. To which I responded I let my member ship lapse since I didn’t work in that field anymore.

I graduated a few years ago with some DHS/FEMA certs...then I suddenly received 2 invitations to join the Society of Chemists and another for a Farmer Co-op. Rather bizarre.

I was a member because my old job wanted me to be a member. It did fit, I was a frac engineer after all. Which reminds me, I forgot to expense that...

My current job here is all about professional development and having/maintain these clubs. So...I passed them a list of things I am working on getting. Their expression was worth the meeting to me.
I may get to goto the Governor’s Hurricane Conference in West Palm Beach!

Wow, OFS is hiring again? I thought they had laid off the entire industry three times over in the past 2 years... /snark

But don’t you know that more people are employed by solar than oil?*
*something I saw going around social media

I wonder if one of those conferences could be a good way for you to network and maybe find some job opportunities. Might be worth it to renew if a conference is taking place in the near future nearby.

I don’t believe that one bit. Pretty much every company I’ve interviewed with has been affected by the oil glut, in one way or another and they weren’t even oil companies.

Apparently they’re hiring again, so they can lay everyone off in 3 years.

It was like $100 or something like that. The thing is I’m not really a petroleum engineer anymore.
